# Quantity and Rate on Contracts

> Enter obligation pricing as a total amount or as quantity and unit price per invoice period, and see how DualEntry calculates total contract value.

Quantity and unit price on a performance obligation are the units and price for one invoice period, not the whole term. DualEntry multiplies those values by the obligation's generated invoice dates to set total contract value, then uses the same quantity on each invoice line and revenue schedule line. On a flat-rate obligation you can enter that total directly, or enter quantity and unit price and let DualEntry show the term total as you type.

* **[How to Enter Obligation Pricing](https://docs.dualentry.com/accountants/revenue-recognition/quantity-and-rate/how-to-enter-obligation-pricing.md)**: choose **Total amount** or **Unit price** on a flat-rate obligation and confirm the contract total.
* **[How Quantity and Rate Work](https://docs.dualentry.com/accountants/revenue-recognition/quantity-and-rate/how-quantity-and-rate-work.md)**: what quantity and unit price mean, how DualEntry counts invoice periods, and how invoices and schedules use those values.
