DualEntry mirrors several close-related activities onto the Tasks board automatically, so you can see what’s outstanding without opening the close checklist, Bank Match, and Anomaly Detection separately. This guide covers filtering the board to that work and the one caution that matters when you do.
Prerequisites
None to view your own Tasks board. Acting on what a card points to follows that feature’s own permissions: for example, editing a close checklist still requires checklist edit access.
Narrow the board to just the cards that matter for close before working through them.
- In Tasks, open the Task type filter.
- Select Close Checklist, Bank Match, Bank Connection, and Anomaly Detector to show only those card types.
- If you work across multiple companies, add the Company filter to narrow further.
- Use Assigned to me or Awaiting my review if you also want to include your own custom tasks in the same view.
After this, the board shows only the system-generated work relevant to close, alongside any custom to-dos you’ve filtered in.
Work the Close Checklist card
Each close checklist gets one card, showing the checklist’s name, target period, target close date, and how many of its tasks are complete. Its status follows the checklist automatically; see Task Fields, Types, and Permissions for exactly how each status is derived.
Don’t drag the Close Checklist card to Done, or otherwise change its status directly. DualEntry recalculates this card’s status from the checklist itself every time the checklist changes, so a status you set by hand on the card gets overwritten on the next sync. To actually close out the work, open the checklist and complete its tasks there.
Click the card to jump to the checklist itself, where you make the actual progress: completing tasks, submitting them for review, and approving them. See Run a Month-End Close in DualEntry for that workflow.
Work the Bank Match and Bank Connection cards
A Bank Match card names the account with unmatched transactions and how many remain. Open it, or go to Bank Match, and match or exclude the remaining transactions. The card clears once the account has nothing left unmatched.
A Bank Connection card flags a connection that needs reconnecting, hasn’t synced in a while, has new accounts to review, or has incomplete setup. Open it to jump to the connection and resolve whatever it’s flagging.
Work the Anomaly Detector cards
Anomaly Detector cards are aggregated, not one per alert: you’ll see up to three, one each for high value, field difference, and duplicate alerts, showing the current count of open, high-confidence alerts of that type. Review and dismiss the underlying alerts in Anomaly Detection; the card’s count follows what’s still open there. Turning off a detector type in Anomaly Detection settings also clears its card.
After this, working through Bank Match, Bank Connection, and Anomaly cards during close leaves you with a shorter board, since DualEntry retires each card as the underlying item is resolved.
Troubleshooting
I marked the Close Checklist card Done, but the checklist itself still shows incomplete tasks. The card’s status is derived from the checklist, not the other way around. Marking the card by hand doesn’t change the checklist; open the checklist and complete its tasks there instead.
A Bank Match or Anomaly card I dismissed came back. Dismissing a system task doesn’t prevent DualEntry from creating a new one if the underlying condition recurs, for example, a new unmatched transaction arrives on the same account after you dismissed the Bank Match card for it.
I don’t see a Close Checklist card for a period I know exists. Check the Task type and Company filters; a checklist scoped to a company you don’t have access to won’t appear on your board.
